Echo Ridge Recreation Area is a trail system in the hills overlooking Lake Chelan.
The Echo Ridge Trail System contains almost 25 miles of trails intertwined with roads. Originally designed for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing in the wintertime, hiking and mountain biking are popular activities spring through fall on Echo Ridge trails. There are wide, easy trails suitable for all ages, and highly technical single track trails for the more adventurous. You will travel over open ridge tops through a young, emerging forest recovering from a 1968 wildfire. Expect to see great views of Lake Chelan, the Stewart Range, Okanogan Highlands, and Columbia Plateau. Trail difficulty varies from “easy” trails to “most difficult,” but most trails are suitable for children.
Echo Ridge Nordic Ski Area is a unique cross country ski area with more than 25 miles of groomed trails just 10 miles from downtown Chelan. Terrain varies in skill level, the vistas are breathtaking, one daily low price, dependable snow, consistent grooming for skate and classic skiing and a few dog friendly trails. Situated around 3,600 feet, Echo Ridge is typically above the clouds that cover the Lake Chelan valley in the winter. Amazing views of the Enchantments, Pyramid Peak, and the Okanogan Highlands can be enjoyed from a number of the groomed trails. The trails are expertly groomed and laid out over rolling hills circling ridge tops and travelling through broad drainages. Even on a busy day skiers have a sense of solitude as they explore the vast trail system. Snowshoers will also find plenty of trails to fill a weekend of adventure.
There are no prohibitions concerning fat biking on snowmobile trails on the Chelan Ranger District. At Echo Ridge Nordic Ski Area, fat bikes are allowed only on trails open to snowshoeing.
