| 05/21/2017 | Destinations, Seattle Northcountry

Everett, Mukilteo, Snohomish, Monroe

The Cascade Loop begins in the bustling port city of Everett, located just 28 miles north of Seattle via I-5. Take a quick side trip to Spencer Island!

Everett is home to the Future of Flight Aviation Center & Boeing Tour, waterfront restaurants, museums and galleries. Visit the waterfront and shop, dine or stroll the marina boardwalk while enjoying the magnificent views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.

Schedule some time in Washington State's "Antique Capital", Snohomish. It's listed on both the state and national registers of historic places with over 300 antique dealers, restaurants and shops, all concentrated in a four-block section of its historic downtown. View Victorian homes from the city's lumber and steamboat era with a free self-guiding map or use your smartphone to tour using Snohomish County's free cyber tour.

Just 10 miles east of Snohomish, discover Monroe. Located near the junction of the Snoqualmie and Skykomish Rivers, Monroe offers all manner of fun, outdoor activities such as swimming, rafting and fishing. Monroe hosts one of Washington's largest fairs, the Evergreen State Fair.

This eleven-day event runs in late August through Labor Day and delivers fun for the whole family. From auto racing thrills to spectacular equestrian shows...there's always some fun going on at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds.

The fairgrounds are also home to the Evergreen Speedway which features nationally recognized events and local racing. Taste the country life--visit a U-pick farm or roadside stand for local berries or other seasonal treats.
